Saint David Fire District welcomes volunteers interested in firefighting, emergency medical services, and community support. Whether you bring experience or are ready to learn, we can help you explore a role that fits your interests. Join a team of neighbors working together to serve our community.

Ways to Volunteer

Firefighting

Help respond to fires, rescues, and other emergencies. Opportunities include interior firefighting and non-entry roles, with duties based on your training and qualifications.

Emergency Medical Services

Serve as an EMT or medical responder, helping provide care at medical emergencies, vehicle accidents, and community events.

Community Support

Support the district through logistics, equipment maintenance, administration, fundraising, public education, and community events.

Training and Commitment

Members meet every other Saturday from 7:00 AM to noon, with station chores from 7:00–9:00 AM and training from 9:00 AM–noon. Training combines hands-on practice, classroom instruction, and online learning.

Members are expected to attend at least 20 of the 26 scheduled training sessions each year and respond to calls and participate in district events whenever possible. Members who live outside the area are expected to commit at least 24 hours per month, including training time.

Volunteer Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Live within 15 minutes of the station; waivers may be granted by the Fire Chief.
  • Complete a background check and oral interview.
  • For firefighter applicants, complete a physical abilities evaluation based on job duties.
  • Attend at least 20 of the 26 scheduled training sessions each year.
  • If living outside the area, commit at least 24 hours per month, including training.

Training for Your Role

Firefighting and EMS members must obtain an EMT or Firefighter I/II certification within 18 months of joining, based on their assigned role.

Community support members receive training appropriate to their duties and are not required to obtain EMT or Firefighter I/II certification.

Complete the required fields, review each acknowledgment, and sign before submitting. Do not enter Social Security or driver’s license numbers; these are collected separately during onboarding.
